Very un-true to form the conditions were good for last Sunday's second winter league match!

Barry Burlton took top honors on the day fishing the pellet waggler with 8mm Barford pellets on the Pleasure Lake. A very close second was Lee Carver (Barford Dream Team) who fished the same lake but on the bottom at 14.5 metres with banded 6mm Barford pellet.

The Tuesday Silver fish matches being held on the Pleasure Lake are being well supported with 18 turning out yesterday. The top three anglers are pictured below.

First placed Tony Anderson made a very respectable return to match fishing as it was his first match back since a knee operation. Showing he's not lost his touch Tony won the match from peg 6 with 41lb 10ozs of Skimmer Bream and other silver fish.   Second place was Simon Duffiled (Mulbarton) who had 24lb 3ozs from peg 4.  Third was Bob Nudd who had 23lb 10ozs from peg 17.

Silver fish matches are every Tuesday until the end of March and are drawn at 9am with fishing from 10am - 3pm. To book in please email me by leaving your name and the date of the match you wish to fish or telephone the office on 01603 759624.

We will again be holding a qualifier which will be on Wednesday 16th April 2008.  The event is a 130 peg match and all of our lakes will be used (we will be closed for day tickets that day). 

The winner of the match will go through to the 16 peg final held at Hayfield Lakes (normally in July).

Tickets can be obtained, as in previous years, via the NFA webite and are available now!!!  Ticket cost is £20.

A qualified field turned out for this highly competitive and well supported winter league (13 teams of 5).  Although the weather conditions were terrible at the weekend the lakes fished quite well, with only two DNW (one of which was local superstar Jim Barrowman!).

On Railway Lake, A section (pegs 1 - 18) fished the best with Neil Adcock (pictured below) from Browning Hotrods winning his section from peg 12 with 52 - 13 on a maggot feeder.

B Section (Railway pegs 24 - 42) was won by Barford Gold angler Dave Reeve who had 46 - 12 from peg 41.

Not entirely happy with his peg at the draw, Warren Martin (Sensas Big Hits) thought he may have drawn out of the action with peg 43 (it being the first peg in the prolific 40's).  After not exactly running to his peg Warren managed to win this tough section by 6lb with 43 - 13.

Willow Lake was pegged on one side only (the Railway Lake bank - pegs 2 - 16). Historically the fish have been more concentrated at the top end but unfortunately they weren't on Sunday!  Suprisingly, pegs 15 & 16 on Willow produced the two DNW's. 

Top weight on the lake was from Fox Match consultant Mark Pollard (Dynamite) who had 67 - 10 from peg 6 (pictured below).  Next door was Mulbarton's Pete Dimmer who came second from peg 7 with 43 - 09.

Finally to the Barford Pleasure Lake where Kevin Ford (Choppy) had a blinding match on the waggler with maggot catching some top quality Roach & Rudd on peg 6.  He narrowly missed out on two places by ounces and his finishing weight was 15 - 5.

The top weight on the Pleasure Lake was from Bob Wessels (Dynamite), who had 44 - 15 from peg 7.  With the wind off his back, Bob fished a groundbait feeder for the first hour and then was able to swap to pellet on the pole at 16mts to gain a mixed bag of Skimmers and small carp.  The wind proved a hindrance for most of the other anglers, the next two top weights came from the 2 points.  Lewis Murauwski (Lewis' Anglers Corner) had 39 - 6 from peg 30 and Daniel Brydon (Barford Misfits) had 25 - 10 from peg 15.
