Railway Winter League - Teams of 5 - Final Results

I would like to thank everyone for their support of the railway winter league 2006, although fishing at times has been difficult it has been a good league hotly contested over the four matches. Next year we will be running the league again and with the feedback I have received at this years league it should be bigger and better with different venues being used. i.e. one week at Railway and Willow, and the next on Barford Match Lake and Barford Pleasure Lake. This should make the league more interesting and methods variable.

Training Success in the Silver Fish Open

Congratulations must go to Michael Craske who fished second in the last Silver Fish Open Match. A keen match angler, Michael took an advanced pole handling training session with Daniel Brydon and has seen his weights greatly increase as a result. Michael;s comments are shown below:

"Many thanks for the lesson on pole fishing. I have increased my weights in matches at Barford Lakes by a great amount. In the last four matches I have weighed in 18lb plus nets twice and 10lb plus nets twice. In Tuesdays Silver Fish Match I finished in the second position. The lesson with you has been a great help and I am looking forward to my Carp lesson in May. Many thanks again..."

Day Ticket Catch Report - Alex Stanbridge

Fishing has been good recently and Alex Stanbridge (15), from Colchester had a great session on peg 16 on the Pleasure Lake. Pictured left is his biggest fish of the session, a 13-08 common carp. The method used to entice this fish was a feeder with double red maggot as hookbait.
