April Update

Posted by: Sarah Thomson, 11th April 2014 19:35PM

Been loving the lush weather this week, looks set to be mild for the next few days too.  Lots of fish moving about and topping and catches have been up around the lakes at Barford.  Got lots of news below, fell free to skip through what’s not relevant to you.

We are open for Day tickets on Good Friday

Charity Match

We're running a Charity Open Match next Good Friday 18th April in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.  Tickets are only £10 (£4 peg and £6 donation) and the pools are a totally optional £10 or £20.  We'll have a raffle (please bring a prize if you can) and food before and after the match.  A perfect excuse to try a bit of match fishing if you haven't already and a great way to raise money for this awesome charity that offers support to the 1 in 8 men that get Prostate Cancer and provides vital research funding to fight this disease.

Evening Day Ticket - Fish for a Fiver

We're now offering an evening day ticket at Barford for £5 which will start from 3pm.  Only available until 5pm when the shop is open (if you are running any later than that please call 01603 759624 to reserve a ticket), but you're able to fish the most productive time of the day for a fiver!

Cafe Update

Both the kitchen and seating area has new flooring and we should get some filter coffee on the go next week.  We're open Thursday, Saturday and Sunday mornings currently but are hoping to open again on Fridays very soon.  If you have a match booking of 8 - 10 breakfast on any other days we'd be more than pleased to open for you on others days.

Angling Champions

In conjunction with the Angling Trust we’re looking for some volunteers who would like to help out with angling participation projects at the fishery.  Angling Champions would receive some free basic training on health and safety and coaching from the Angling Trust.  You even get some free clothing!  If you’re interested in doing an angling coaching course this is a great starter pre Level I in angling.  Please email me back or call on 01603 759624 if you’re interested.

Evening match series – Let’s Fish Evening Costcutter

We’re running some evening matches this year, and can run a league for those interested.  Trying to keep the costs down we will run a prize pool of £1 and £5 – so if you don’t normally fish matches you can come along fairly cheaply.  You’ll see them on the What’s on section of the website and the draw is at 5.30pm fishing 6pm – 9pm.  Costs £6 or £10 to fish depending on what prize pool you enter.
