First Result from New Match Water

Posted by: Sarah Thomson, 19th May 2010 17:23PM

Our new match water Mill Lakes fished well for it's first match with 72lb of 2lb carp winning the match.  The next weights were 63lb, 55lb, 52lb and 51lb.

The lake is bigger than the Pleasure Lake (35 pegs) and has 24 pegs round it and offers something completely different to our other match waters.  It is 8 - 10 foot and 4 - 5 foot in the shallowest areas.

We are taking club bookings and peg fees are £7 per 5 hour match.  The lake is stocked with carp to 2lb and it also holds the odd one inthe 6 - 7 lb mark with roach, rudd and small Tench also being present.

Angling Clubs with current bookings on our waters may change venues if they wish swap any current venues (apart from Colton - we need to pay for the predator fence!).

Day Ticket Catches

Both Pleasure and Top Lakes have been fishing well - there's been a lot less pressure on the lakes so far this year so those that have been here have had some awesome catches.

Steve Spurgeon (Taverham) had 9 carp to 10lb from peg 29 on the Pleasure Lake.  He also had a shoal of Bream move in for a spell and had several small Tench.  He caught his fish just out in front on the bottom with banded 6mm Barford pellet and corn.

Ted Farrall (Norwich) has also had some great sport on the Pleasure Lake peg 9, the other day he had 6 carp to 8lb, some Bream and a koi of 5lb.  Ted caught his fish on banded 8mm Barford pellet whilst feeding 6mm.

Another angler emailed me to let me know about his first trip to Barford.  Andrew Jones caught himself a beautiful Carp which looked like it had some Koi in it.  He also came close to beating his mate (Phil Haynes) PB on tench with a 5lb 11oz using a hair rigged Barford pellet. Andrew also had a few Mirror Carp.
