Further Information
The Norfolk School Games is the largest school sport event to ever be held
in Norfolk. During 2014/15 it is estimated that over 20,000 young people took
part in the Games in 45 different events. The Games is part of the national
Sainsburys School Games initiative which aims to inspire more young people to
take part in competitive school sport. The Norfolk School Games is organized by
Active Norfolk and the eight School Sport Partnerships (SSPs) in the county and
sponsored by the Sportspark.
The Games are made up of four levels of activity: competition in schools,
between schools, at county/area level and a national finals event:
Level 1 – sporting competition for all students in school
through intra-school competition
Level 2 – individuals and teams are selected to represent
their schools against other local schools in School Games qualifying
competitions run by the eight School Sport Partnerships (SSPs). The winning
individuals and teams are selected to represent their SSP at Level 3.
Level 3 – the Norfolk School Games Finals are two week long
multi-sport competitions (Winter and Summer) where the most talented pupils
from across the county represent their SSP whilst competing against each other.
At the end of the week the most successful SSP is crowned over all champions.
Level 4 – the Sainsbury’s School Games finals: a national
multi-sport event where the most talented young people in the UK will be
selected to compete in the countries sporting venues.
The 2016 Norfolk School Games will again be split between into a Winter
Games and Summer Games programmes. The 45 events will be split across a range
of sporting venues including the Sportspark, Whitlingham Country Park, Norfolk
Ski Club, Gresham’s School, Easton College Tennis Centre, Norwich Rugby Club
plus many more.
Steve and Nathalie Bulllock (Mileham) had an awesome day yesterday on the Pleasure Lake. Nathalie had 94lb 4ozs of carp to 12lb 9ozs on Barford pellet and Steve had a tremendous 268lb of carp to 14lb 8ozs!!
Steve caught on pellet waggler about 4' deep firing in 2 or 3 8mm's every 30 seconds. Steve also caught on a method feeder using 2mm pellet which he soaked for 2 minutes then drained the water off, using a Middy Compacta Method feeder mould and a 4mm banded pellet whilst adding some Goo. Awesome days fishing for both!!
