5 Day Fishing Festival 2009 Final Results

A good week had by all!  It was a very friendly festival this year which saw even the top anglers swapping tips and fishing methods.

Of the 45 anglers that fished 35 took money home - which was great and what we hoped to achieve.   The ten anglers who were unlucky not to take an envelope home had a draw for a bottle of Macallan's Scoth.

Winner with a perfect 4 point score was Shakespeare sponsored Neil McKinnon (we're considering asking him to fish one handed and start on 3 points next year!)

Second was Andy Purdy with 7 points.  Andy hadn't been fishing much at all this year, but has come back in style to finish second overall.  Festival regular Steve Jackson came in third with 8 points and also on 8 was Bob Bradford.  5th place was Jim Randell with 9 points.

Bob Bradford 8 points 217 7
Jim Randell 9 points 301 0

5 Day Fishing Festival 2009 Results Day 5

(Edited by: Sarah Thomson, 10th May 2009 14:53PM)

The final day of the festival saw an open draw for Colton, Match or Willow Lakes.  A very windy day meant bait presentation was particularly tricky!   Especially on Willow Lake and with a top weight of 44lb reflecting this.  Top weight on the day was from Paul Gardiner from peg 8 with 44lb 7ozs.  2nd was Andy Purdy with 43lb 8ozs from peg 33.

Colton surprised the whole filed and fished very well, with the exception of three anglers everyone caught over 50lb.  Top weight on the day went to self confessed Canal angler George Manoli.   This was George’s first festival with us and he'd been on a steep learning curve all week.  George fished corner peg 31 and won the lake with 113lb 4ozs.  2nd on the lake was Clive Spelman with 96lb 10ozs.

The Match Lake was won by Jim ‘sandal’ Randell from peg 3 with 86lb 3ozs and 2nd was Bob Ramsbottom with 81lb of fish caught mostly in the last hour from peg 21.

Bob Ramsbottom won Colton Lake today with 68lb 7ozs from peg 2 and second was Paul Ashford with 65lb 15ozs from corner peg 10.

Railway Lake fished well again with Neil McKinnon winning from peg 46 with 147lb 14ozs.  Second place went to Steve Jackson with 78lb 6ozs

The top weight of the festival so far was from Stuart Bracey who had 203lb 14ozs from end peg 15.  Second on the lake was Andy Purdy with 82lb.

Below are the top 15 anglers.  Again I have sorted them on all four weights (cumulative weight) but have left the Calculated Points column and Counting Weight Column. These results are as if they have dropped their worst result (only the four best results count in this festival - your worst score gets dropped).

(Edited by: Sarah Thomson, 7th May 2009 08:33AM)

Starting with Willow Lake, which fished a little tough today, the winner was Ian Dunlop with 73lb 10ozs from peg 6 and second was Bob Bradford with 55lb 3 ozs from peg 3.

The Match Lake saw two very good anglers on the best two pegs. Steve Jackson won the lake from peg 7 with 132lb 19ozs and Neil McKinnon had to settle for second with 91lb 8ozs from peg 23.

The story from the day was provided by Browning angler Dave Vincent who broke the lake record for Railway Lakes.  Dave had 181lb 10ozs from peg 42. Second on the lake was local legend Jim Randell with 107lb 2ozs pegged next door on 44.

Below are the top 15 anglers. I have sorted them on all three weights but have left the Calculated Points column and Counting Weight Column. These results are as if they have dropped their worst result (only the four best results count in this festival - your worst score gets dropped).
