Coronavirus Update

Posted by: Sarah Thomson, 23rd March 2020 09:50AM

We have taken the decision to close all our fisheries.  Although our sport has social distancing the current government guidelines is for no unnecessary travel.  It’s the whole process of you getting there, grabbing supplies etc.  We feel that the only way right now to reduce people’s risk of exposure is to not provide the facility of fishing.  This decision hasn’t been taken lightly but we all don’t really know what the position will be in the next couple of weeks.  We will review it regularly and keep you all posted.

Further announcements with regards to the syndicate at Coston and the membership here at Barford will follow within the next few days.

Hope you all and your families stay safe and well.  We look forward to re-opening as soon as is safe.

Best wishes

All the team here.

Coronavirus Precautions

Corvid-19 – Coronavirus

These certainly are unprecedented times.  We hope to continue to offer fishing until we are advised otherwise but are adding additional measures to help keep us all safer.

Keep your distance – social distancing has advised being 2 metres apart – this is no problem when on your peg/swim.

For the time being please draw outside and not in the bait cabin.

Consider just one person drawing the pegs and one person writing the names in order to keep this distance, ensure a safe distance around each other.

Remember social distancing when weighing in – only the angler weighing in and scales person to be at the scales

The café will be closed for the meantime – we will review this in April.

We will be serving in the bait cabin with a mask and gloves on – don’t want to be alarmist but we’d rather look daft and stay safe than pick something up and spread to you.

The bait cabin is open for an hour while matches draw.  We would ask that not too many people are in the cabin at the same time.

If you require bait but do not wish to enter the cabin please text 07711 689186 or call 01603 759624 with your requirements and we will leave it outside the hut (you can pay over the phone).  Or we can deliver to your swim at our Carp Lakes.

All toilets at Barford and Coston have soap in them for you to wash your hands as required.  We are trying to set up sanitising stations at other lakes with no running water (Mill Lakes, Colton and Railway). Until this happens consider taking care when touching bolts to open doors.  Hand sanitiser appears to be like Hen’s teeth right now, we are seeking solutions.

We will step up cleaning toilets here at Barford and Coston and other lakes, including extra care sanitising door handles etc.

These next points probably go without saying but…

If you have a cough or a temperature – please stay at home and isolate for 7 days, follow official advice.

Consider postponing or not having annual club meetings in enclosed spaces – if you do meet – meet outside.

Angling is a strong and great community of people – please do all you can to help keep each other safe - check on your club members if they are self isolating.

Take care of each other and yourselves.

Kind regards

Sarah and Pam Thomson
